6 Months

Well, today’s post is going to be kinda short because I have an essay I should write. Today I have been married for 6 months. Yay! How great is that? It’s weird to think that six months ago I was getting ready for my wedding day. I think by now I had my hair in curls pinned to my head where they would stay for the next two-three hours before dousing my head in hair spray so that the curls would last at least through the pictures and the ceremony. Which they did. It was such a great day…

curlfestthegorgeousbridefirstdanceThese were taken mostly by my bridesmaids and uploaded to my wedpics album. It was a nice thing to have. We got to see some pictures of the wedding while we waited for the professional ones to be finished, and one of my girls is amazing at photography. It’s been six months, and oh, how I wish I could go back and relive it because it was just wonderful.

Today’s challenge question isn’t very interesting: What’s one thing you use every day?

My phone. My hair brush. My comb. The shower. The toilet. The sink. The fridge. My computer. I know it said one thing, but come on, this isn’t very exciting.

All right, as soon as I write this paper I’ll be done with my finals! I have to present a scene tomorrow but we’ve been working on it for 3-4 weeks now, my professor is amazing, and I’ve got my own personal acting coach who is also my husband so I’m not worried. All right. I have to go write it now. If I can get it done before work that’d be great. Ok. Go write. Now. Now. Now…

Honeymoon On Hold

Hi everyone! I know I still have like 6 days to update you all on, but our internet wasn’t installed until yesterday and we lost our long ethernet cables in the move so we have the foot long one the company gave us which means we have to sit right next to the modem right next to the tv to use the computer. We bought a wifi router today but it broke instantly. I got the Actor’s computer to connect but when I tired mine it just broke and not even his computer would read it anymore. Anyone know of a good router?

So, until we get this internet issue figured out the honeymoon updates will be on hold. Well, probably just until tomorrow. I just didn’t feel like plugging my computer in right now. I suppose I could update you all on my life right now.

It’s kinda stressful. I went back to work and even picked up some extra hours. I’ll try to do that as often as possible this summer. It’s really slow, but we’re allowed to read so I’m bringing a book when I go back on Monday. It’s kind of a nice break from trying to put the apartment together. We got here on Wednesday but didn’t do anything unpacking wise except our suitcases from the trip and we put the bed together. To we’ve got all the boxes unpacked, some bags full of gifts that still need to find homes, and flattened boxes up against the coat closet. The Actor built a TV stand we got from Target for 75% off. Gotta love Target!

We went grocery shopping for the first time today. We’d just bought milk and cereal and boxes of easy mac to eat until we figured out a weekly menu. $140 spent on groceries! Ridiculous, but we needed basics like flour and salt, so the next trips shouldn’t cost too much. I am loving having a kitchen! We made pb&j in our panini maker for lunch today, which I highly recommend. The peanut butter gets all melty and good. I made enchiladas for the first time ever for dinner tonight, which made the Actor very excited because he loves them and the only Mexican restaurant in town charges $15 per enchilada. No we can get them for like 50 cents in our kitchen!

I has been really stressful for me, though, and it doesn’t help that I have depression. It seems that no one ever talks about how hard adjusting to married life can be, just how great it is when you’re young and newly married. It is great, don’t get me wrong, I just have a hard time getting that my life is never going to be the same. When we go visit back home (it’ll always be home) my bedroom won’t be my room anymore, and I won’t sleep in it alone. I won’t wake up in my twin bed in the morning to a hungry kitty and my brother running off with his father on weekends, so I have the house to myself. My husband will be there and my cat will be mad that he’s there (she wasn’t very happy about him spending the night after the honeymoon, but she got used to it eventually). I’ll never just watch stupid cartoon network shows with my brother, or sit with my mom on the couch while we look at Pinterest, and watch House Hunters on HGTV and complain about the imperfect world we live in. I can still do those things to an extent, but it’ll be on vacation, not every day life, and my husband will be there. I sound terrible. I love him, and I’m so glad we’re finally married, but it’s just hard to say goodbye. I didn’t have much of a childhood because of my father, and whatever was left of it is now gone forever. It means I get to start a new adventure, and I’m happy and excited to, I’m just having a hard time saying goodbye and adjusting to the change. Today is probably the first day since living in the apartment that I’ve eaten 3 meals.

So Day 3 will hopefully return tomorrow (Animal Kingdom) and I’ll just continue adjusting to my new life.

Wedding Night

The WAC gave us a complimentary room for the night of the wedding depending on how many guests you have. 50=guest room for 1 night. 100=suite for 1 night. 150+=suite for 2 nights. We only ended up having about 70 people, but we’d predicted 100 and ended up with a beautiful suite for the night. I wasn’t expecting it at all. We were so surprised and happy. We almost didn’t want to leave for Walt Disney World. They also gave us a really pretty cut glass vase and some champagne. Plus some chocolate strawberries which we had for breakfast and were so good! It had 1 1/2 bathrooms. It was bigger than our apartment. We could probably fit two of our apartments in it.

Wedding Day

I’m back! I’m going to be spending the next few days packing and unpacking and starting back at work. You know, trying to live and make my way. It’s all kind of stressful and emotional right now, but I’m not gonna bother you all with that right now. Today’s post is recap of the wedding.

I didn’t take any pictures, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have any. First of all, if you go on Facebook and search for Tasha Owen Photography she’s got a bunch of pictures on her page. She was our photographer and was completely amazing. Anyone getting married in the Seattle-Tacoma area should definitely have her be your photographer. Seriously. I know good photography and she is amazing. I searched and searched for a good photographer. It’s surprising how many wedding photographers out there don’t know how to take pictures. I was so happy when I finally found her.

Anyway, I woke up at about 8:30 and got up. I had some toast with coconut oil (so good!) for breakfast and a pop tart later because I didn’t want to eat too much. We left the house at noon to go up to the venue to get ready. I spent three hours with my hair in pins so that my curls would stay. My MOH also sprayed my hair with hair spray. It probably took up half the can, but it worked. The curls stayed until the end when I messed them up myself with dancing. We had about 3 hours to get ready which seemed like a long time, but it was nice not having to rush getting ready. Once my hair was curled I got to sit and relax before doing my makeup and getting dressed.

People kept coming upstairs to the reception room and where we were getting ready and having formal pictures so I had to go hide until they went to the ceremony room where they were supposed to be. We had our formal pictures done before the ceremony so that we had more time to do them, and I’m glad we did because everything seemed to move so fast after the ceremony before the reception. Cocktail hour seemed really short. We did a first look instead of waiting until the ceremony to see each other. It didn’t make the ceremony anything less. It was really great, though. Then we got kicked out of a place across the street from the WAC (venue) where we were taking pictures. As one of my bridesmaids said, “she’s in a wedding dress. Just let it happen.”

One of my girls had a family emergency so she couldn’t come which was sad, but we still had fun.

The cake was really good. All the food was good. I didn’t get to eat too much but I also didn’t want to. Too excited.

The ceremony was great. I almost kind of passed out before walking down the aisle. I was standing there waiting for my turn to go down the aisle and it was just all so real and overwhelming and just blah that I probably turned pale. Tasha had to ask if I was okay while she snapped away. Those pictures will be interesting. Our officiant was wonderful and we’d gotten a very personalized ceremony. It was something that everyone could relate to, and it honored my grandparents because it was also their 57th anniversary. Once I knew that the day we were thinking of was their anniversary there was no way we weren’t going to get married that day. It was so great. I had to read my vows second, and we’d written our own vows, and all I could think as the Actor read his was “I can’t go second. I don’t think I can talk.” But somehow I made it through them, and everyone we talked to said they loved our vows. I think that writing your own is just better and more special than reading traditional ones. We signed the license immediately after and then had some time to ourselves to just soak it all in.

It all turned out great, really. Only one or two things went wrong and they were minor. Like the wrong version of the processional song was played but it still worked.

It’s been over a week now since the wedding and I’m happy that I can still remember most of it. It was so great to see everyone. It was the first time my family had all been together in a long time. I didn’t even miss my paternal side. Everyone that mattered had shown up and that was, well, all that mattered. It was really a wonderful wedding and we were sad when it ended, though we had more exciting things coming up very quickly. I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures! Gosh, a year ago I was starting the process of planning a wedding, and now it’s over. Where did the time go?

Up in the Air

So right now I’m probably asleep on the plane on the way to Florida for our honeymoon. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we have been for this trip! In some ways we’ve been more excited for it than the actual wedding, which I’m sure went awesome last night. Today is gonna be a crazy day, though. We have to get up at about 5:40 AM to get dressed and check out where either my mom will take us to the airport or we’ll have to take the light rail which is a little scary because we have to walk 3 blocks to get to it with all our luggage. I pack light so that’s just a suit case and a backpack probably, but still. Then our flight leaves at 8:40 and we don’t land in Florida until about 5 their time. It’s almost a six hour flight! Geez. Hopefully I’ll sleep through most of it. I’m terrible at sleeping on the plane though. I used to fly a lot when I was little. Always to Montana to visit my maternal grandparents (aka the only grandparents that care about me). Once we took a late flight in and I fell asleep on it. Well, I don’t know how this happened but my mom got off the plane without me. My mom and dad got up and left the plane. I woke up because a flight attendant woke me up. I was probably about four. Scariest thing that ever happened to me. I jumped off the plane and found my parents just standing there like, “where were you?” Um, on the plane where you left me! So I don’t sleep on planes anymore. I’ll have to bring a lot of books to read and stuff because the Actor can sleep on planes. When I do sleep I do that weird thing where the very top of my head ends up against the head rest like it’s trying to be flat like it would be if I were to lie down. It’s awkward.

Anyway, once we land we’re taking the Disney’s Magic Express Shuttle to our hotel where we’ll check in, get our “key to the world” and then take a boat ride over to Downtown Disney where we’ll get our Mr. and Mrs. mouse ears and eat dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Then we’ll go to sleep. You might be able to see things on Twitter if you follow me, but I’m not sure just how much tweeting I’m going to be doing on our honeymoon.

Practice Makes Perfect

Tonight was wedding rehearsal night. I have pictures of my outfit, but not the event. So I stole one from my FFIL’s facebook:

Yep, I’m looking typically serious. It’s a big deal. Also, I was super excited to find that dress. I’ve wanted a maxi dress for forever but I’m too short to wear most of them. My mom and I found this one at Khols and just had to buy it. I had some left over gift card money so I got it. My mom wore a dress in the same color so we matched.

We had a nice dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory afterward. It was delicious and a lot of fun. I hadn’t been there since Prom last year and I think we all enjoyed our food a lot more this time. We left without having our ice cream last time we were so fed up. Prom was fun though.

So I have one more day before the wedding. I have to pack for the honeymoon and all of my makeup and such for the day-of. My grandparents are coming in tomorrow morning so I’ll get to see them. We’re getting married on their anniversary, so I’m really excited. I’ve always been really close with my omi. We’re having a little thing mentioned about them in the ceremony.

Oh my goodness the ceremony! We went over it today, mostly with “blah, blah, blah” instead of actual words but goodness! It’s actually happening. It’s really, really happening. Okay, I’m really, really tired and I still have to write in my diary so that when I’m old and can’t remember things I can read it. And maybe finish this episode of FRIENDS. The Actor and I are pretty sure we’re Monica and Chandler.

That said, this is the last post I’ll be putting up instantly. I have several scheduled posts for while I’m gone, but no updates on how things are. Follow my twitter ajamontana because I might be tweeting a bit while I’m gone. Probably stuff like, “I’ve never been on this ride before!” or “SOARIN!” Stuff like that. But yeah, if you want that’s where I’ll be until the 17th. Yeah, I need to go to bed. So until the next post here is a picture of the awesome clock my mom got me(us?) as a bridal shower gift.
