“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.
I was always a good student in school. The definition of “good” here means A’s and B’s and not necessarily having good study skills. I never needed to study. To this day I don’t have to study unless it’s for something I really care about. I pass all my tests and essays on the first try and I graduated high school with a 3.94 GPA. But now that I’m quickly approaching adulthood I realize now that the things I want to do most are those things that challenge me. Since school taught me that I do not need to try it is always a bit distressing when I’m not good at something right away, especially things that I want to do and am passionate about. School taught me to just rush through everything and I got very good at rushing through everything in a way that would give me an A, but life doesn’t work that way. You don’t get graded in a job. Of course you want to do it well, but I have learned how to do a bad job well enough that it looks like a good job. So when I try to actually do a good job I have a hard time.
But all this doesn’t mean that I should give up on what I want. It just means that I have to actually try. So I am going to do my best and push myself every day to grow and learn and become better at what I want to do. I don’t believe in living a life working a job I hate just to make some money. If I have to be poor but do what I love then I will enjoy my life much more. I believe that the purpose of life is to enjoy it because we only get one.
So never give up on your dream. Put in those 1000 hours to become a master and never give up. Study, read, run, stretch, dance, create, grow, learn, live. You can do anything you set your mind to. Time does not stop, so neither should you.
